If you know anything about Ste. Genevieve, you know it's the oldest permanent settlement West of the mighty Mississippi River. Because of that, we are inherently interested in history. This was totally fun... in a word So, what's going on here? The furniture piece that Jaime is lounging on is a gossip bench or telephone seat. My grandfather had this one in his farm house and it has been passed on to me after he passed away this summer. It's not an antique but I can't find one just like it, one that it's supposed to be modeled after. We were guessing early 1900's style. The telephone came from a local pawn shop. Ok, so I was super stoked (is that word still used?) to be able to shoot Laurel & Jeff's wedding back in September. Not only do I love outdoor September/October weddings, but I finally got to shoot one at one of the greatest parks ever: Bee Tree in Arnold, MO. Here is the second installment from Nick and Rachel's wedding! They moved from the church to a hall for their reception and it was just gorgeous. Cute and original decorations including a wall of photos of them growing up and a banner with their initials over their candy bar. Oh, yes, you read that right: a candy bar. How cool! Strangely enough, besides back when I was shooting film (and 9 years ago at that), the wedding of Nick and Rachel was the first one I did in my very own church. Here's an example of a first look at a recent wedding. This also so happens to be my little brother's wedding and boy, did I get a wonderful new sister. First Looks are great when the bridal couple wants to do photos before the wedding or, for whatever other reason, doesn't want to worry about seeing one another before the ceremony. Hey everyone! Here's a wedding I had the privilege of shooting last October. It was my first one that took place completely inside of a house and it was absolutely gorgeous. Very intimate, as well, family from both sides and some close friends. The fireplace and mantle with the dogwood painting was also a perfect backdrop for family formals. Kimberly is one of the sweetest and most loving people I've ever met. She is undergoing chemo and getting closer to being finished, then it's radiation, for breast cancer. She was only diagnosed in March and even though she's going through all of this, she still smiles.It was sort of funny how this all worked out - we had the same idea on the same day and started talking. Well, it seems I got distracted from blogging! Here are photos from Marie's portion of the photo shoot that took place in the rail yard. Today we continue Aven's birth story with his birth!Since babies don't come except on their own time, I was on call a long time for this one. When the night finally came, I drove up to Erin and Jim's on a Sunday, arriving about 830pm. Erin wanted to labor at home so we all tried to sleep for a little while, but I was unable to. Ok, now this was a lot of fun! My little brother is getting married in July, last March we got together for some engagement photos. Emily wanted some balloons so we went with it and even got a 30 which is just huuuuuge. Bart and Amber tied the knot on an absolutely gorgeous day in April of this year. It was a country wedding - out on the family farm, outside, even hay bales for guests to sit on during the ceremony all complete with a hay ride up the hill to the ceremony site and back down to the reception site.
