Seems like an engagement session always makes appearances as my first thing of the photography season! This year that spot was held by Rebekah and Jordan who are tying the knot this June.In February, we headed out on what turned out to be a pretty warm day for winter, to the covered bridge area north of Hillsboro. I love this place. The bridge is great but my favorite part is the field right there in the park area. I admit it, I love a good uncut field! We had a great time and they were just so c ......

Last year, for my summer modeling session, Deanna was willing to get all vintage-y and hang out in the oppressive heat for a bit, complete with very annoying mosquitoes! Of course, you can't tell that from the photos! She was just so darling, this is one of my favorite themed sessions with some of my favorite shots taken in front of the red building.

Well these two were just so adorable! And a year later, they still have some of my favorite couples shots. Steve and Gina were having a destination wedding last summer but they needed some engagement photos first - that's where I came in. ;-)We went to the spot where he had proposed, making it all the more special for the two of them. In the first shot, she had written on her hand what she'd said when he proposed. We took this shot first in case the marker were to wear off and she didn't tell hi ......

I love the part of spring where all of the flowering trees are in bloom! There are some that I just have to go see every year and last year I decided I needed a model for some. So I looked up Sara, I knew she was perfect for it! So we hit my favorite trees and a few more for some lovely spring time fun photos. ;-)

Tony & Jess had been together for about five years when they tied the knot last Thanksgiving weekend. The Christmas decorations at their church were in full swing making this my first Christmasy wedding. ;-)It was a lovely warm day, however, and we were able to do lots of photos outside the church (can you say bubbles??) and at a nearby park as the sun was starting to drop. I love the dark purple dresses and they really shone outside. I also captured some of my favorite ceremony photos to da ......

Taylor is one of my 2015 seniors and we had a great session last August, just before school started. She brought a friend with her for a few photos of them together, too. We headed out to some of my favorite spots and just had a good time. I love the shirt that she wore, the color against all of the green and the wood, it really turned out beauitful.

These two friends got together for Mother's day and split a session. Each one wanted some pics for Mom but we also took some together. Of course, the furry friends were involved, too!It was a cute and adorable session, I really enjoyed it. :)At Sunset Park in Festus.

In April I had the chance to photograph the alpacas at ST Regal Farm before their shearing and during. Well, after the shearing as well, but we didn't get to do individual photos for those. Watching/Photographing the shearing was very interesting, I had had no idea what all it entailed. The work was done by a group from Ohio through shearingalpaca.com. They were all very professional and quick, I couldn't believe how fast the whole thing went. Here are a few photos and I look forward to seeing th ......

You might remember Kate's friend Deb from the year prior when she visited and we did a photo session. Last fall she was able to make it again and we met for a few quick photos. This is one of my favorite spots for small groups, love this texture!

Last fall I got together with this fun loving clan for some unique family photos. Even though we were unable to trek to one of the locations they'd hoped for, we had a great time playing around near the house. It was also special to be able to include Grandma in some shots (and she certainly is a personality)!

This might be one of those rare cases where I actually blog an engagement session before the wedding happens! I photographed Aaron and Ellen last November for their engagement sessions, their wedding is this June. Also included was Aaron's son who is clearly totally in love with Ellen. We had a great time playing around in the weeds and fields and leaves... and even with the donkeys. How cute! They even chose the shot of the two of them with the donkeys for their save the date postcards.I'm real ......

Last season I had the privilege of photographing our music minister's family. They certainly are a handsome bunch, and those boys certainly are something else. And, of course, these little ones are already so much bigger and even more good news, Mama has another one on the way! Looking forward to seeing this family grow.

Here is a lovely spring time family session with a truly wonderful family. We decided to head off to Kimmswick for some great texture and it was a gorgeous day. And, I gotta say, the little girl here was not even quite 2 years old at the time but was one of the easiest children to photograph ever! So willing to sit still and pose. ;-)

Last November we had what felt like a really early snow and there wasn't much of it so there were all sorts of green things sticking up out of it and what not. But it was still perfect to get out and take some photos and Mary Beth was willing to model for me so we headed to one of my favorite spots. I also loved seeing all of the dead leaves in the woods sticking out of the snow.So we just went around a bit before getting too cold and had some fun and... isn't she just so adorable???I had also b ......

January 18th I did my first big bridal show. I've done a couple before but never one this large, with this big of a space. I've only ever had small tables before. Before I go any further - I could not have done this without some special people, especially Kate. Some of you may know Kate, she and I have been friends for a long time now and I have done photos for her family for several years. Last year, she started working with me as my wedding assistant. I could not have pulled this show off witho ......

I had the opportunity to photograph this sweet family last Fall and of course, we had a great time. I loved all of the purple and white and I think it all came out great. Everyone was so sweet and I enjoyed getting to know them. We walked around Ste. Genevieve a little bit making use of brick walls, a wooden fence at a historic site, and a private location that I have permission to use. I really loved the look of the wood and the white walls especially with the outfits. I love all these sweet sm ......

Matt and Tracy were married on a beautiful - though quite warm - day in September of last year. This was the ultimate wedding, seriously. So beautiful and unique, I absolutely fell in love with the bouquets, for example... buttons and bling! We first met for a few getting ready pics of the girls and some decorations and people waiting around the lobby of the ceremony venue. Once everyone was ready, we did a First Look with the bride and groom, after doing one with her and her father. Several tear ......

I was looking at some of what has drawn people to my website a bit ago and there were a few questions that had been typed into Google and found my website, by whatever combination of words. However, it's likely those questions weren't answered here as most are generic photography questions. So I decided to try and answer these as they come up in my keyword referrals. So the first one I'd like to discuss is why does my photographer need a contract? I can only figure that someone, somewhere in t ......

Back what feels like a million years ago, I got to do a real quick gender reveal for this mom. What was really cool about it was that she also didn't know the genders of the TWINS until her shower when they revealed. So we took the photo in a way that she didn't see it before it was time. So fast forward to more recently and these little beauties are here! Like most twins, they arrived early and spent some time in the hospital before getting to go home but once they did, we were able to set up s ......

So I figured I'd better go ahead and get these posted before it's Easter again! All the kids were dressed up so why shouldn't we have a little mini photo session?? Of course... not a one of them was really very cooperative... as usual! The group shot of the kids, I am not kidding, had to come from 3 separate photos and required me calling in my Photoshop experts... and even then, it's far from perfect. But, hey, that's who they are and we love them for it. I may Photoshop some faces together fro ......

Last May/June we had another opportunity to go visit my husband's family in Mississippi. Living in several different states, it's not all that often that these siblings can all get together and even though the event was marred by a tragedy, they were able to pony up some smiles for me with one another and their mom. We also took a group shot of all those who were able to make it. I imagine the actual family is probably more than twice this, though! Photos like these are very special to have and ......

About 10 months before this session, I was inspired when I saw Katelyn in her homecoming dress and immediately pictured this. It got cold rather quickly though and everyone was so busy so we waited until school wrapped for the year. Her mom did her hair and make up just as I had envisioned.Of course... we had a ton of fun with this! I just love all of it from the dress and the setting to the hair, make up, glitter, mask, and my OWL. Everything!

As promised, here are Avina's senior photos... some of them at least! We actually ended up with a lot more photos than usual, roughly two and a half times the average session. She was not only so sweetly photogenic but we met twice due to a rain out the first day.The first day we were able to do some photos under the overhang while the rain just poured, including some photos of her with her siblings and grandmother who was visiting at the time. A few days later, we headed out around Ste. Genevie ......

Shortly after I photographed her daughter for her senior portraits (coming soon), sweet Dee gave my daughter an authentic Sari. It was still a little bit big for my little petite Miss Thang but we made it work for a little photo session. Of course I had to take some photos!! How darling is this??This first photo is one of my favorites of her so far, ever. I even have it in a 6x6 wood print with dark walnut stain, the perfect size for taking with me on consultations.
